#FutureArchitectFriday: Renaldo Rivera

Hi readers! It’s #FutureArchitectFriday. A day to celebrate those pushing themselves to becoming licensed architects.
Name:
Renaldo Rivera
Hometown:
Leavenworth, Kansas
Educational Status:
Architecture degree (master degree starts in the summer)
How would you describe your experience as a Black Architecture student?
I would describe my experience thinking outside of the box to achieve the design that you desire. Staying in studios countless night has help me understand that it’s not considered a job if you love what you do.
Why do you want to get your license?
I would like to get my license simply because it’s why I went to school for 6 years and the sky is the limit as a black educated man who wants to pursue anything they put their mind to.
Biggest inspiration/influence?
My parents because they helped raise 8 kids for over 30 years and they became really great role models for us.
How important is representation?
Very important when you have others who are older than you or younger than you looking up to you. When you are applying for jobs it’s all about what you represent in your life.
Favorite quote/poem/song/etc.?
Pain is temporary, success is forever
