#FutureArchitectFriday: Lindie Fredericks

Hi readers! It’s #FutureArchitectFriday. A day to celebrate those pushing themselves to becoming licensed architects.
Name: Lindie Fredericks
Hometown: Harrisburg, NC
Educational Status: Senior at UNC Charlotte
How would you describe your experience as a Black Architecture student?
I think I have had one of the better experiences as a Black Architecture student. I had the advantage of starting college in my major with 4 other strong black females by my side. We stuck together from the beginning and have been together ever since! Having people to relate to in a field where there aren’t too many of us, to begin with, is very important.
Why do you want to get your licensed?
I want to be licensed for the freedom of being able to do things on my own. Also, it is just an accomplishment as an architectural professional to get your license.
Biggest inspiration/influence?
My biggest influence is my family because they all came from a different country and started a new life here in America and that kind of drive and perseverance is something I admire.
How important is representation?
Representation is very important because it allows young men and women to see themselves in that role or job. It lets them know that they don’t have to be the ones to pave the way because there has already been someone that looks like them in that field. Lets them know anything is possible.
Favorite quote/poem/song/etc.?
